HOW TO REACH SHARDA TEMPLE AT LOC TEETWAL, DISTRICT KUPWARA, KASHMIR

Note: After crossing Sadhna pass, please stop at next Tangdhar to allow brake shoes of vehicle to cool down. Please leave your station either Srinagar or kupwara early morning towards Tangdhar. All those desirous of returning should leave Teetwal by 5 PM

Note: Please carry 4 prints/ photocopies of e pass and original pass with you. Only post paid mobile works at Teetwal preferably Jio and Airtel.

Apply for e pass as One has to enter Army Zone beyond Kupwara. The same can be applied on e portal with Deputy Commissioner Kupwara on: http://epass.kupwara.co.in/apply Press KARNAH in options. 

Note: KARNAH needs to selected to visit Teetwal, any other option will not provide valid ePass to visit Teetwal. 

The pass needs to be shown at Chowkibal, Sadhna Pass & a few checkpoints enroute. Take 4 print outs of the e pass. It takes 4-5 days for getting e pass. Have warm wintery clothings with you. Carry some nausea or vomiting tablets also with you. 

Any Pilgrim visitor who wishes to travel to Sharda Mata Mandir has to reach Srinagar airport in morning flight. If He/She reaches by 11 AM, He/She will board a Taxi from Srinagar Airport after having vegetarian snacks & Fast food outside Airport Gate at M.R.Foods (Anil Bhat - 6005061218 & Rinku Bhat - 9797047303). 

It takes a minimum 5 hours (167 Kms) to reach Teetwal via Kupwara. Upon reaching Teetwal, one can stay for night at Teetwal and leave next morning in same Taxi to Srinagar airport. He/She can stay in Srinagar for night at S D Dharamshala near Ghanta ghar Lal Chowk (Contact : Inderjeet - 9906250250) or Mata Jyeshtha Mandir near Governor's House at foothills of Shankracharya Temple). The best mode is to come from Srinagar to Mata Ragnya asthappan Tikker Kupwara ( 2 hrs drive), stay there for the night and start for Teetwal next morning( 3 hours drive). Stay at Teetwal whole day and return to Tikker Kupwara and stay there for night. For stay at Tikker Kupwara, we have 2-3 individual rooms as well as a Hall with kitchen for a large group with all facilities. For Tikker Kupwara contact Temple committee president Mohan Lal Padroo (6006540081, Caretaker Iqbal - 9622287072, Pujari Raj Kishore - 9797383308). Room Charges Rs.500/- for 5 persons per night and Mess charges Rs. 120/- per person. 

Presently the temple is managed by Sharda Yatra Temple Committee Teetwal under the aegis of Save Sharda Committee Kashmir Regd (Trust). Besides construction committee member & Coordinator Ajaz - 9682686374), Army camp Pujari is available at Temple (Nirmal -9103092370) gardener Siddiq -9103755926,.

Pujari is available from 8 AM - 8 PM for nominal puja including mangal aarti. If one has to perform any specific Homa/Havan with own puja Paditi, he should bring his own Pujari for the same. Presently we have a vegetarian kitchen in the shape of a rented accommodation near the temple belonging to Sharda Committee members who manage and cook food in a sanctified kitchen themselves. Any staunch pilgrim can use the same free of cost, but have to cook themselves as no cook is available there. A vegetarian food eatery has also started recently at Crossing Point in Teetwal near the temple run on Canteen rates by an army contractor. For pure veg. snacks and light food there contact Rajesh Tiwari - 9815696081 and Nand Sharma - 9815696039

VISITORS cum PILGRIMS with Sightseeing also 

Any Visitor can reach Jammu by Train and book local mode of private transport from Jammu to Srinagar ( 8-9 hours), stay at Srinagar and then come to Teetwal (5-6 hours from Srinagar)and return the same or other day by same Taxi. We do not have a Public transport for Teetwal. A luxury bus service has started recently from Kupwara to Teetwal, only upto Chiterkote and back. It has to be purely Private hired Taxi. Then He/She can go for sightseeing for which they need to do prior booking with Tour Operator online( Pyana Travels Sujatha - 9469431146)

A taxi should charge around Rs. 8000/- to Rs. 10,000/- for ferrying to & fro Teetwal.

PS: 

1. For foreigners it is requested to apply online e pass mentioning adhar card and any documents pertaining to India. Besides during travel their Passport OCI card etc. in original shall be checked & verified at DC office Kupwara. 

2. It is suggested that groups of 50-100 persons should stay overnight at Tikker Kupwara and proceed during the day to visit Sharda Temple Teetwal and return to Tikker Kupwara for night stay on return.
