Yatra - Sharda Temple to Sharda Peeth

Sharda – the basic seat of learning for Sanatan Dharma is the oldest civilization and was once the part of Sharda desh and also Adi Shankracharya’s seat. We are working for reopening of Sharda Pilgrimage in PoK that was last held in 1948 by our Guru Swami Nand Lal ji - a kashmiri saint. 

Decades of struggle and success

  • APMCC and AIKS applied for LOC permit to visit Sharda Peeth. APMCC Chairman Vinod Pandit goes on indefinite fast for reopening Sharda Peeth. 
  • Professor Rukhsana Khan visited Sharda Peeth. Seminars and press conference on Sharda Peeth. 


  • Flowers offered at Sharda Peeth, first time after 1947.
  • Awareness on Sharda Peeth and Sharda Civilization.
  • Meetings in New Delhi with religious tourists from Shardi.
  • Sacred Soil and Flowers from Sharda Peeth POK displayed in Jammu.
  • Portrait of Sharda Mata was installed at Sharda Peeth. 
  • Save Sharda Committee (SSC) was registered with Government. 
  • Letter written to various Ministers and Authorities, demanding reopening of Sharda Peeth Pilgrimage. 
  • Meeting with Pakistan High Commissioner to facilitate pilgrimage to Sharda Peeth
  • Sacred soil of Sharda Peeth is taken to Kashmir Bhavan, Golden Temple, Nellore, Ramchandrapura Shankraracharya Mutt, Kanchipuram Shankraracharya Mutt, 
  • Met Swami Sri Nischalananda Saraswati, head of Puri Shankraracharya Mutt.
  • Swami Sri Swaroopanand Saraswati, head of Dwarka Shankaracharya Mutt writes letter to Prime Minister and External Affairs Minister. 
  • Letter written to SC of Pakistan, SC of POK admits the petition and passes a landmark judgement for preservation of Sharda Peeth. 
  • Various programs all over country to spread awareness on Sharda Peeth. 
  • Programs in Bengaluru in association with Navdurga Trust.
  • Meeting with Shankaracharya of Puri Mutt Swami Sri Nischalananda Saraswati to explore the possibility of bringing all Shankaracharyas of four mutts on a single platform to raise a unified voice demanding reopening of Sharda Peeth. 
  • SSC meetings with Kumbh Mela organizers and UP Govt officials to spread awareness about Sharda Peeth. 
  • After meeting with SSC, Mehbooba Mufti writes to PM Modi louding SSC's efforts and beseeching the PM to restart Sharda Peeth Pilgrimage. 
  • After reopening of Kartarpur Corridor, SSC organized press conferences urging all regional political parties, social and religious organizations to collectively join efforts for reopening Sharda Peeth pilgrimage. 
  • SSC organized a summit at Ardh Kumbh mela in Prayagraj. On 6th Feb 2019, a resolution was passed on reopening Sharda Pilgrimage by all Shankaracharya mutts. 
  • Pakistan Hindu Council led by Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani visits Sharda Peeth. 
  • SSC Virtually Participated in seminar on Sharda Civilization organized by Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre at West London University. 
  • Coordinated efforts of SSC and POK civil society members lead to Sujata and Venkatraman, Hong Kong based couple to perform pooja on the bank of Kishanganga River near Sharda Peeth. 



  • SSC with VHP sends sacred soil of Sharda Peeth to Ayodhya for foundation-laying ceremony of Ram Temple. 
  • SSC Head and other followers of Swami Nand Lal Ji performed pooja on Sharda Ashtami on the bank of Kishanganga River at Keran in Kupwara.
  • POK Civil Society member applied sindoor swatika on Sharda Peeth, a first after 72 years.
  • SSC head writes to Pakistan PM, Imran Khan to restart Sharda Peeth pilgrimage. 
  • Ravinder Pandita's efforts recognized by JKVM (Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch) with Yashasvi Puraskar. 
  • Meeting with acting high commissioner of Pakistan in India, Aftab Hasan Khan. Presented memorandum to reopen Sharda Peeth pilgrimage. 
  • Pooja performed by two Peshawar Pakistani Hindu youth at Sharda Peeth.
  • Launch of book "Taerrkh k aaine me" authored by Raja Nazar Buniyari about Sharda Civilization. Forward written by Ravinder Pandita. 
  • Second meeting with Pakistan High Commissioner in Delhi, Aftab Hasan Khan at which re-opening of Sharda corridor is discussed and the book on Sharda Civilization is presented. 
  • Meeting with Shre Sudheendra Kurkari (Ex-Director of operation) in PMO during Vajpayee govt. Got full support for SSC movement and suggested a 3-point formula on Sharda Mission. 
  • SSC organizes a seminar "Exploring Sharda Civilization" in Baramulla. Seminar witnesses the virtual participation of researcher and activists from POK. 
  • Sharda Ashtami pooja performed on the bank of Kishanganga with around 20 devotees along with SSC. 
  • Meeting with MoS for PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh to brief about success of SSC 's Sharda Ashtami celebration at LOC , Teetwal 
  • SSC organizes foundation-laying ceremony of Sharda Yatra temple at LOC, Teetwal. On the same land where it used to be before 1947 Qabali raids.


  • Meeting with Shakaracharaya of Sringeri Mutt, Jagadguru Bharathi Teertha ji Mahaswami. The Sringeri Mutt head articulates his support tot he proposed Sharda Yatra Temple at Teetwal, agreeing to present a replica of the orginal Sharda Mata Idol for installation at the temple on completion. 
  • Construction of Shard Yatra Temple and Gurudwara begins at LOC, Teetwal restoring it to 1947 times. 
  • POK Civil society members performed pooja at Sharda Peeth. 
  • Charri Mubarak yatra taken out in Teetwal, first time after partition. Muslims and Sikhs also took part. Supporters from POK also joined on other side of Kishanganga to greet yatra. 
  • Sringeri Mutt donates Sharda Mata Panchloha Pratima to SSC members for consecration at Sharda Yatra Temple, Teetwal. 
  • Sharda Mata Pratima Yatra completed from Sringeri Mutt to Teetwal via Banglore, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur,Delhi, Chnadigarh, Amritsar, Jammu, Tikker Kupwara . 
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with J&K LG Manoj Sinha virtually inaugurated Sharda Yatra Temple. 
  • Amit Shah told the gathering, "Ravinder Pandita (head of Save Sharda committee) has asked for a Kartarpur-style corridor for Sharda yatra, the government of India will surely make attempts in this direction, there is no doubt in that."
  • The Shankracharya of the Sringeri Mutt Sri Vidushekara Bharathi performed the Pran Pratishtha Pooja at the newly constructed Sharda Yatra Temple. A large number of followers and locals took part in the function at the temple in Teetwal.
  • After a gap of 76 years, the Sharda Yatra Temple began glittering again with the sound of holy bells and religious chants of devotees at LoC on the banks of the Kishenganga river in Teetwal. 
  • Diwali celebrated at Sharda Yatra Temple.
